Condition

The canvas has been laid on panel (before the 1875 estate sale, and possibly by the artist). Some light frame rubbing is visible at the extreme edges. Ultraviolet light reveals some scattered very small spots of retouching chiefly in the dark pigments of the foliage in the centre and to the left. This painting is in good condition, and is ready to hang. Held in a decorative gilt frame.
