Condition
The board is flat and even and ensuring a stable support. Ultraviolet light reveals some strokes and small areas of retouching in the background, chiefly in the upper-left quadrant, a circa 5 by 2.5cm area in the lower right corner, and scattered strokes at the extreme edges addressing frame rubbing. Apart from some small strokes in the figure's left upper-arm, there appear to be virtually no signs of retouching to the figure. The overall appearance of the painting is good and it is ready to hang.
Held in a decorative dark gilt Florentine-style frame, with open-work foliate ornaments.
