Condition
The canvas has been relined. Under ultraviolet light the varnish layer fluoresces quite opaquely, however there appear to be some retouchings, notably a circa 9 by 13cm area of restoration near the centre of the sky, strokes in the hull of the ship to the right of centre, intermittently along the upper framing edge, and some strokes to the right of the sky. There are fine lines of craquelure primarily in the bright reflection in the water. The overall appearance of this work under normal light is good, and it is ready to hang.
Held in a decorative gilt frame.
