Description
- Joaquín Agrasot
- An arab man

- 84.5 by 44.5cm., 33¼ by 17½in.
Provenance
Acquired by the family of the present owner in Paris in the late 1940s
Condition
The canvas has not been lined. There is a light stretcher mark corresponding to the four stretcher bars. Ultraviolet light reveals a handful of scattered signs of retouching, notably a 6 by 3 area of restoration in the figure's elbow and below (patched on the reverse) and a few spots in the background. There are some scattered pinhead-sized spots of paint flaking primarily along the right edge and some minor surface scratches which could benefit from restoration.
Held in a decorative white-painted and gilt frame.
The figure's white shroud is a darker colour in reality, however the catalogue illustration is otherwise fairly accurate.
