Condition

There are a few light scratches and a few minor firing impurities on the interior of both dishes. There is also a minute firing gap near the mark of one dish, but otherwise the pair is in very good condition. The impression of the waves is clear but does not come through in the catalogue photo.

Catalogue Note

Dishes enamelled with this striking, bright monochrome turquoise enamel are extremely rare and the present pair is particularly large. A pair of smaller turquoise-enamelled dishes was sold in these rooms 20th November 1985, lot 206; another was included in the exhibition Ch’ing Porcelain from the Wah Kwong Collection, Art Gallery, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong, 1973-4, cat. no. 37.
