  • wood, on an ebonised wood cross and base with ivory mounts, with three modern iron nails
  • Italian, 17th century

Condition

Christ: Christ has been made in sections and there are visible joints to His two shoulders. There is some stable splitting to the wood. His fourth finger, on His proper left hand has been lost. There is a small loss to Christ's proper right ankle, consistent with the material. There is a scratch above Christ's proper left knee. There is dust to the crevices. Otherwise the condition of the wood is good. Base: The cross has been made in sections and joints are visible, some with small gaps. There are holes to the cross, particularly at the top. There is a visible plug at the proper right top corner of the cross. There are scratches and dust to the surface. There are losses to the edges of the base at the reverse and the underside.There is some stable splitting to the wood. The white ornaments have been made in sections and joints are visible. There is dirt to the surface. Otherwise, the condition of the base is good.
