Catalogue Note

The attention to textural ornament in this head has affinities with the sculptures of Justice and Prudence on the Tomb of Francois II de Bretagne, dating to circa 1500 from Nantes (op. cit.). Sumptuous headwear and clothing enlivens the figures’ calm expressions.
