John Mitchell Fine Paintings, London

Condition

The panel is flat and even, with a faintly visible vertical 8cm crack in the lower right corner and another minor circa 1cm in part of the 'B' of the signature. Under ultraviolet light the varnish fluoresces quite opaquely, obscuring a clear reading of the surface; only a few tiny spots of retouching are visible, predominantly near the bottom of the woman's dress and in the background to the left of the boy's face. This work is in good overall condition and ready to hang. Held in a decorative rococo-style frame.
