Condition
STRUCTURE
This picture is in excellent condition with no obvious damages. The paper is flat and clean and the picture is ready to hang. Unexamined out of the frame.
FRAME
Contained in a Victorian gilt moulded frame and under glass (minor losses to mouldings).

Catalogue Note
John Mather was born in Newcastle and spent his ealry years at sea, reaching the rank of captain. He exhibted at Suffolk Street from 1862 and in the later 1860s moved to Whitley Bay. He died in Cullercoats in 1879.
