  • Satyr and Satyress
  • gilt bronze, on ebonised wood bases
  • South German, 19th century

Condition

Overall the condition of the bronzes is good with minor dirt and wear to the surfaces consistent with age. There are numerous small lacunae to the surfaces, including to underneath the satyr's proper right elbow, between the satyress' thighs and one to her proper left arm. There are a number of original plugs, including to the satyress' proper left lower arm. There are one or two small fissures, including one to the back of the satyr's neck. There are remnants of a black lacquer patina. There is minor wear to the edges of the bases.
