Kristof Kintera

Conceived in 2013, the present work of an overweight, yet graceful, gravity defying fox adorned with christmas baubles atop a partially deflated spacehopper, is representative of  the often surreal and disconcerting element of Kintera’s works, in which he juxtaposes the ordinary with the unusual to create  unique, thought provoking pieces.

Kristof Kintera’s is one of the most interesting and successful artists of the younger generation of Czech Contemporary artists. Born in 1973, his oeuvre heavily features sculptures and installations that question the role of the arts. By combining everyday objects in unusual or surreal ways, as in the present work, Kintera provides a fresh,  stimulating perspective of our quotidien.     

 “ I am trying to bend and warp reality, sometimes using minimum effort, sometimes with a lot of effort. After such a process of modulation a new strange item starts its new unnecessary existence. It is about having its own and new (dis)logic and that is very exciting for me. Basically these works should not need verbal explanation. They are just here and that's it.
