Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the pink spray paint tends more towards a neon pink and the background is deeper in the original. Condition: This work is in very good condition. All surface irregularities are in keeping with the artistÂ’s choice of media and working process. The canvas is slightly slack. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultraviolet light.

Catalogue Note

“Sometimes I use the word champagne – something that most people in our society have had at one point or another in their life. The more often you drink champagne the more association there is to affluence, but if you just drink champagne once a year at Christmas then it’s more of a humble thing.” (Oscar Murillo in conversation with Hans Ulrich Obrist in: Exhibition Catalogue, Rubell Family Collection, Oscar Murillo: Work, 2012, pp. 42-43).
