Catalogue Note

“In the execution of his portraits, Mahmoud Said effectively extracts an insight to the innermost spirit of his characters, and their simplistic rustic lifestyle. Upon the subject’s plump lips one can read a serene expression, on her exquisitely defined smile one can see a flitting shadow of desire or regret. The weariness and sorrow which emanate from her facial features are further accentuated by her motionless detached gaze, which is weighed down by her heavy lidded eyes loaded with promises and sensuality.”
