Catalogue Note

'The Bruces' are an anonymous mock-conglomerate-corporate collective based in Brooklyn, bringing classic Hans Haack-esque strategies of institutional critique to a whole new and entertaining level. First exhibited at DUVE Gallery in Berlin, during The Bruce High Quality Foundation’s seminal exhibition The Great Wall, the present work uses the familiar motif of the American Chinese take-out restaurant window as a vessel to comment on utopian neo-liberal aspirations to globalization and pluralism, which arguably disregard any kind of public nourishment issues.
