The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate, although the overall tonality is slightly brighter and warmer in the original, and the illustration fails to convey the highly textured application of oil and encaustic.
Condition:
This work is in very good condition. There are a few isolated and unobtrusive hairline cracks to the white pigment in places. There is a small loss to the centre of the figure in the blue pigment, visible in the catalogue illustration. A further small spot of loss in the blue pigment is visible on the figure’s right elbow, with a few additional isolated specs of loss to the white paint in places. No restoration is apparent when examined under ultra-violet light.
