Upon close inspection, there are a few extremely light hairline scratches to the figure's upper legs and a few tiny rubs with associated pin-size spots of paint loss to the figure's right knee, right big toe and left hand, all of which are unobtrusive.

Catalogue Note

Marc Quinn’s Siren series is one of the most recognisable examples of contemporary British sculpture, and brilliantly emblematic of Kate Moss’s renowned status as a supermodel and icon. Moss and Quinn met thanks to the creative matchmaker Tricia Simonon, and it was at her instigation that the immensely successful creative partnership was initiated. After hearing of Quinn’s idea for a series of sculptures using Kate’s iconic image as its inspiration, Simonon – a lifelong friend of both Quinn and Moss – made the introduction over lunch at the popular St John restaurant in London. Once this fruitful connection was forged, Simonon continued to be heavily involved throughout the entire artistic process, playing a crucial part in the collaboration. This exquisite example from the series, Maquette for Siren - along with the stunning flower painting, White Night in the Orinocco Delta (Lot 244) -  were personal gifts from the artist, each a token of thanks to Simonon in recognition of her integral part in the creation of this celebrated series.
