Catalogue Note
The present work, dedicated to the Turkish artist, statesman, and archaeologist Osman Hamdy Bey and his wife, most probably depicts the artist's French second wife Naile (née Marie Palyart, 1863-1943), with whom he had four children from 1880 to 1893.
