Condition
In overall good conserved condition. His right hand appears to have been restored together with his right leg below the knee and above the ankle. There is also a darker coloured area on the left forearm which is a possible old restoration. Some very minor scratches.

Catalogue Note
This figure is based upon the original marble sculpture on the East side of the Parthenon in Greece, which is now in the British Museum. For the plaster model Schwerzek added hands and feet now misssing on the original.
Karl Schwerzek in his explanation (1904) states: I added the missing hands and feet of this figure, but avoided giving it attributes as these are unknown and finally not important. However, it is possible that the head would have been decorated with a bronze wreath.
