the lid applied with an oval enamel plaque painted en grisaille with a resting single and elderly labourer with two young girls garlanding the altar of love being stoked by Cupid, within a chased ribbon and rose frame, the ground, sides and base enamelled naturally over engine-turning, opaque blue and white enamel borders applied with husks and ovolos, maker's mark, charge and export mark of Jean-Baptiste Fouache, rim numbered 204
Condition
some minor losses to enamel at back panel, good clear marks. some discolouration to white enamel borders, particularly on each side and on lid.
