- smallest 4.5cm., 1 3/4 in. ; largest 7.8cm., 3 1/8 in. wide
the first, a circular panel with piqué point decoration representing a rabbit and lilly of the valley, circa 1720, set in the lid of a later box, collection label E.v.Dam, silver rim; an oval example, decorated with flowers and birds bordered with a flower garland, later silver-gilt hinge, French or Italian, circa 1760 ; an elongated oval snuffbox, Paris, 1763, gold mounts, with alternating garlands of flowers and coulé flowers, charge and decharge marks of Jean-Jacques Prevost; a circular example, with scattered stars ground within formal border, circa 1780 ; and another small circular example, circa 1900
Condition
1. some wear to pique decoration, some chips to tortoiseshell
2. some losses to gold decoration, hinge replaced ad some wear overall
3. rim on lid has been re-glued, some pines lacking, split to rim cover on left side, top rim of bottom off and glued back without pins. interior bottom with minor losses and 2 patches of repair along hinge.
4. split to lid and some losses to decoration on border and along crack
5. crack down one side
