Description

  • 46cm. high; 1ft. 6in.
the circular enamel 4 inch dial with Roman and Arabic chapters and signed BREANT A PARIS  within a case surmounted by a 'fountain' with applied foliage and dolphins to each side, raised on a leaf cast stem on a stepped white marble plinth

Provenance

Acquired from Mallett at Bourdon House Ltd, London, 8 January 1985.

Condition

Wear consistent with age. The glazed cover to the dial does not shut properly. There is an aperture to the sixty chapter and there are chips to the enamel on the circular clock face. On the reverse it is likely there have been remedial repairs to the clocks movement. It appears there has been a rectangular section cut on the main body at the back of the clock and there is now a soldered section covering this hole, there is discolouration around this repair. The marble is discoloured and would benefit from a clean. There is overall wear to the gilding.
