- Approximately 388cm. high, 260cm. wide; 12ft. 8in., 8ft. 6in.
the top border incorporating a coat-of-arms and collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece, the lower selvedge with the Brussels Brabant town mark, and the weaver's mark, D. Eggermans
Condition
This tapestry has areas of repair, reweaving, fading and weaknesses in areas.
Reweaves to motif centre right border. There are some small patches and the browns have oxidised (exposing white flecks of the white warps showing), commensurate with the dyes used and the age of piece). Brown and terracotta coloured repairs generally.
Evocative motifs of the 17th century, especially the martial trophies of the border and cherubs in the main field and the coat-of-arms and collar of the order of the Golden Fleece.
Tapestry is lined and has Velcro attached for hanging purposes.
