Illustration: The yellow traces on both vases are corresponded to the reflect of each gilding bases. The blue colour of the porcelain vases is a little too purple in the illustration. Good overall condition. The necks of the vases have been drilled in two parts to adapt the giltbronze mountings. The giltbronze mountings are in good overall condition. Catalogue Note

"J'aime le principe de la pièce montée qui modifie l'aspect ou l'emploi primitif de l'objet et lui signifie un destin supérieur" (Connaissance des Arts, septembre 1966). Ainsi s'exprimait le Prince des Antiquaires, Nicolas Landau, au sujet des objets montés et notamment des porcelaines de Chine à monture de bronze doré. D'une parfaite symétrie, le dessin organisé autour d'un axe médian tout en conservant un vocabulaire rocaille, notre monture illustre le style Louis XV dit classicisant, qui s'épanouit dans les années 1750 en réaction au goût asymétrique des deux décennies précédentes.
