Condition
The ivory relief is in very good condition overall. A minor chip to the lower right border of the relief and to the left side. The relief is attached to the velvet stand.

Catalogue Note
Ce relief est comparable à un fragment en ivoire représentant la Vierge à l'Enfant, conservé au Musée du Louvre (OA 6087). Ces deux oeuvres proviennent très probablement du milieu napolitain du deuxième tiers du XIVème siècle dans la mouvance de sculpteurs tels que Tino di Camaino. On retrouve en effet une certaine souplesse des drapés et rondeur des visages, typiques de la sculpture italienne de la première moitié du Trecento.
