Description

including one carved in the form of a crane with its head turned to form the hook and supporting a branch of peaches on its back; and five carved with chilong-head hooks, one confronting a smaller undercut chilong, another confronting a cicada and pomegranate, the third with incised ruyi-head decoration, the fourth with lingzhi sprig, and the last with a cross-hatched circle between C-scrolls, all with oval buttons on the underside, the colors ranging from pale grayish white to yellowish white (6)

Provenance

Acquired in Hong Kong between 1969 and 1972.

Condition

All belt hooks have scattered minor nicks to the edges. The belt hook with dragon-head terminal and carved lingzhi shaft has minor chips to the terminal. The belt hook with dragon-head terminal and clambering chilong shaft has a chip to one ear of the dragon and to the arm of the chilong.
