the bodhisattva cast standing against a lotus petal-shaped mandorla bordered with flames, with right hand holding a lotus bud and left in varadamudra, atop a domical base raised on a bracketed plinth, with partial remains of an inscription on the back and sides, wood stand (2)

Japanese collection formed before the 1980s.
Condition
The tip of the mandorla has restored cracks, one leg has been off and reattached, and there are areas of loss to the bracketed plinth. There is the expected wear to the gilding, and there are scattered dents overall.

From what remains of the inscription, it appears that the present lot was cast by a devotee during the third month of the first year of the reign of Wuping to commemorate his parents.
