Description
with a flat lip and protruding flat foot, painted in famille-rose enamels on each main side with rustic scenes, one with a woman standing inside the open garden doors of a riverside home looking out at a man who is handing a basket to another man standing ankle deep in the shallows of a river or lake, another basket on the ground beside him, and on the other with two figures, each with a basket, working in paddy fields while a young man on the bank, with a dog yapping at his feet, holds another basket on his shoulder, the neck with a band of formalized lingzhi, the foot inscribed with the Guyue xuan mark in iron-red enamel; the jadeite stopper with a glass collar

Condition
There is a tiny chip to the outer lip and some minor wear to one main side; otherwise the snuff bottle is in overall good condition.

Catalogue Note
The pastural scenes on the present bottles are based on the first and sixth scenes of the Gengzhi tu 'Pictures of Tilling and Weaving', an album of woodblock engravings commissioned by the Kangxi emperor in 1696 illustrating the processes of the production of rice and silk.
