Description

moulded in the form of a prostrate Buddhist lion clutching a brocade ball between its front paws, the eyes left unglazed, the pupils glazed black directly onto the biscuit; the gilt-bronze stopper chased with a formalized shou character and flower, made from three-quarters of a garment button

Condition

There are four spur marks on the base from the original firing process. There is some glaze abrasions around the lip where the stopper has worn the surface and some abrasion on the tail. Apart from this the snuff bottle is in overall quite good condition.
