Catalogue Note
Between about 1899 and 1904 Orpen produced a number of drawings based on stories from the Arabian Nights. This example taken from The Story of Noureddin Ali, and Bedreddin Hassan, is particularly fine, and demonstrates the artist's assured mastery of line, light and shade.
