Printed document signed ("Th:Jefferson"), broadside (10 x 5 3/4 in.; 250 x 145 mm, sight), being an act at the second session of Congress, New York, 4 January 1790, authorizing that the salary for the clerks in the office of the commissioner of army be equal with that of clerks in the treasury department. Matted, glazed, and framed.
Catalogue Note
The text reads: "Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the clerks in the office of the commissioner of army accounts, are entitled to received for their services a sum not exceeding five hundred dollars, to be paid in the same manner and at the same rate as the salary allowed to the clerks in the department of the treasury ..." The Act was approved by President Washington on 2 August 1790. With Jefferson's fine, bold signature.
