Catalogue Note
Bellin's "Riviere du Détroit" derives from his Petit Atlas maritime and is based on two manuscript maps by Joseph Gaspard Chaussegros de Lery: "Plan du Fort Détroit" (1749) and "La Riviere du Détroit" (1752). The inset "Plan du Fort du Détroit" is the first published map of Detroit.
