Catalogue Note

A fine review copy of the first edition, this being copy 15 of 25 numbered copies "reserved for ungrateful critics and its two authors" (of a whole edition of 525).  This copy with prospectus with "Review Copy" typed over the title and the publication date altered from 17 March to 1 May to 10 May.  Of this edition, in the first 26 copies, the pages were thrust upward and trimmed at the top, flush with the tan covers.  The bottom edges are untrimmed.  Rare in this state.

Salmagundi consists of prose and poetry frist published in the New Orleans periodical The Double Dealer.  The four-line Hemingway poem appears on the back cover.  The book also contains a preface by publisher and printer Paul Romaine.
