Catalogue Note

"The wish to be drunk with soon again."  Hemingway was close friends with the Paris correspondent for the Brooklyn Eagle, Guy Hickok, for over a decade, beginning from his earliest years in the city. He trusted Hickok's opinion enough to pass along the manuscript for A Farewell to Arms for his comments. Their March,1927  Italian trip was the basis for  Hemingway's story "Che Ti Dice La Patria?"
