The House of the Seven Gables. Boston: Ticknor, Reed, and Fields, 1851

Seven Gables: In 8s (7 x 4 ¼ in.; 178 x 110 mm).  Publisher’s fine ribbed brown cloth blocked in blind on both covers (BAL Binding A), spine lettered gilt, yellow endpapers, publisher’s 4-page advertisement dated March, 1851 inserted between front endpapers; hinge of lower endpapers slightly defective, light spotting and staining to both covers. Green cloth chemise with leather lettering piece, green cloth chemise tipped in green morocco; split to lower spine of chemise, slipcase faded.  



Together with: The Marble Faun: or, the Romance of Monte Beni. Boston: Ticknor and Fields, 1860. 2 volumes in 12s (7 x 4 5/8 in.; 178 x 115 mm). Half-titles; a few fore-edges nicked in vol. 2. Publisher’s brown ribbed cloth blocked in blind, spines lettered gilt, brown-coated endpapers, publisher’s 16-page catalogue inserted at the end of vol. 1; minor losses to upper joints of both volumes and to foot of spine of vol. 1, stain on front free endpaper, and a few ink stains along top edge, small bubble on front cover of vol. 2. Brown cloth chemises and quarter brown morocco shaped slipcase.
