8vo in half sheets (8 3/8 x 5 1/8 in.; 215 x 130 mm). Stipple-engraved frontispiece portrait of Pike by Edwin, 6 engraved maps and charts (5 folding, one on two joined sheets), 3 folding letterpress tables; frontispiece lightly browned and offset to title, text very lightly browned, maps foxed and offset, some maps and tables with short marginal tears. Contemporary tree sheep, spine gilt-ruled with red morocco lettering-piece, plain endpapers and edges; neatly rebacked preserving original spine. Half brown morocco folding-case.
