Catalogue Note

Two documents highlighting preparation for the Battle of Bunker Hill.

Joseph Pearce Palmer (1750-1797), son of General Joseph Palmer, was appointed quartermaster general by the Committee of Safety on 30 April 1775. It is in that capacity that he ordered ten days provisions be delivered to Captain Tweedell. Captain Nathan Hale (1743-1780), of the Third New Hampshire Regiment, was to fight at the Battle of Bunker Hill in June. His receipt records the delivery of 34 men from regiment of John Stark (1728-1822) who was in command of the First New Hampshire, also to distinguish himself in that battle.
