Chancery folio (12 x 8 3/8 in.; 305 x 212 mm), types 145(165)G, 110R, 80R, 165Gr, 59 lines of commentary surrounding text plus headline, heading of dedication printed in red, collation: AA, a6, b-z, &, p, R, A-Z, aa, bb8, c10=422 leaves; very light marginal browning in first few leaves, small stains in upper margin of quires b, c, B, C, light stains in D8v and P4 bottom margin, marginal notes and highlighting on g1 and o8. 19th-century antique blind-tooled calf, painted over entirely in gold, decorated in a panel design with elaborate arabesque frames, stamped supralibros with the arms of Emperor Charles V and the motto "plus ultra," edges gilded, gauffered and painted to represent 18th-century landscapes, believed to be the work of HaguĂ©, impression of bosses or jewels probably added by the binder. In a brown morocco box.
