Small 4to (9 1/4 x 7 in.; 235 x 178 mm.); black cloth, gilt spine lettering, large color pictorial paper at upper cover, one frontispiece and 9 colored plates by N.C. Wyeth, on coated paper. Inscribed on first endpaper: "To Peter from doctor Chaifrier [?], Merry Christmas 1928." The frontispiece signed by Nicholas Wyeth. Good condition.
With an original drawing in pencil on half-title page, by American artist Jamie Wyeth, Newell Convers Wyeth's son, copying his father's frontispiece: "My drawing of Alexander II."
