Description
- ink and paper
Autograph letter signed ("Stephen Crane"), 1 page (8 3/8 x 5 1/4 in.; 213 x 133 mm), Sussex, 2 February [1900], to Mr. Arthur J. Harrihill; in purple ink on blue Brede Place letterhead; light foxing and minor discoloration.
Catalogue Note
Written in the year of his death. Although he was laboring to finish "The O'Ruddy" and was suffering from the tuberculosis that would eventually kill him, Crane writes a sympathetic get well note regarding a friend's recent injury. This apparently unpublished letter was written on February 2, 1900, just a short while before a massive lung hemorrhage in April, leading to Crane's untimely death in June.
