A Paris, chez M. l'abbé de La Chau, M. l'Abbé Le Blond, et chez Pissot, 1780-1784. 2 volumes in-folio (310 x 190 mm) veau vert, triple filet doré en encadrement, dos à nerfs orné, pièces d'armes Luynes, pièces de titre et tomaisons de maroquin rouge (Reliure de l'époque).

Un portrait en frontispice d'après Cochin, gravé par Saint Aubin, daté 1778 et 179 planches gravées sur cuivre.
Géraud de La Chau fut bibliothécaire et garde du Cabinet des Pierres Gravées du duc d'Orléans. Gaspard Michel, dit Le Blond, était sous-bibliothécaire du collège Mazarin. Toutes les pierres décrites dans cet ouvrage, sont illustrées d'une planche et accompagnées d'explications savantes avec de nombreux renvois aux textes antiques.
