Description
- ink on paper heightened with gold
- 132 by 47.5cm.
Ottoman Turkish manuscript on polished paper, 26 lines to the page, written in black and gold in diwani script, surmounted with the tughra of Sultan Mahmud I, executed in colours and gold, the interstices decorated with chevron motifs, polychrome flowers and interlacing split palmettes, further illuminated headpiece with ensuite decoration
Condition
In generally good overall condition, colours and gold bright, some creasing, vertical tear with repair to bottom left hand section, as viewed.
