Description

Condition

The colours of the image in the catalogue are tonally a good colour match. On the photograph there is a white mark in the lower left corner, which is not on the actual carpet. This mark is a photography anomaly. Glossy wool. Generally good to fair indigo pile overall, approximately 3mm. With some areas of wear to knot-heads and spot foundation visible. Some oxidisation to reds of roses, but pile generally in fair condition. Slightly deeper pile in the border with localised minor spot foundation visible due to old moth. Some repiled areas. From top left - (1) square area 8 by 6cm (120cm. down from the top edge, left of centre of field); (2) square area 8 by 5cm (160cm. down from the top edge, left of centre of field); (3) irregularly shaped area 15 by 8cm (adjacent to above); (4) irregularly shaped area 5 by 6cm (adjacent to above); (5) There is some repiling to blue pile to the far right edge (largest area approx. 6 by 4cm), level with the above irregular repiles; (6) irregularly shaped reweaves, lower right quadrant, from fret borders (approx. 70cm in from the right hand side, which vary in size, between 15 to 20cm. in width (arch shape formed); (7) another irregularly shaped reweave approx. 15 by 20cm. wide, further down in lower right hand side corner (approx. 90cm. up from lower end). Scattered repiling up the central axis, vertical fold line. There is a small hole, within red and brown pile of inner border, approx. 5cm. by 2cm. (half way up the right side). There is extensive old moth visible on the reverse. This is a very attractive and decorative classical carpet.
