Description

Gouache heightened with gold on paper, a double-sided leaf, each page with text above the miniature in red and black nast’aliq script on cream paper, red borders, recto numbered in lower border in Persian '206'

Condition

Asavari Ragini: In overall good condition, small flakes near right-hand border and near figure sitting in tree (particularly near foot and behind shoulder next to branch), minor flakes on central figure playing the flute, very few, small flakes in rocks and in central tree, colours and gold background strong and bright, as viewed. Megha (?) Ragini: In overall good condition, small spots of flaking on palanquin and beneath old woman's feet, small stain and rubbed section on old woman's trousers, minor flakes of paint to white architectural surface and on dark blue background next to one of the white columns, minor rubbing within door of architectural building, including tiny loss of paint, very slight rubbing to text, colours and gold generally bright, as viewed.
