Description

  • Band: 36cm. Earring: 19cm.
The crown composed of openwork interlinking panels, featuring alternating rectangular panels decorated with enamelwork and set with colourful gemstones and arched panels with a scrolling openwork background framed with alternating green and pink gemstones, with lotus-shaped dangling charms and a round hook to each end, the earrings each comprising large dangling hoops decorated with openwork enamel plaques set with colourful gemstones and pearls, featuring two hanging rosettes with similar decoration

Condition

In good condition, slight ware to parts of enamel, some stones were replaced with synthetic paste and glass, as viewed.

Catalogue Note

Such a lavishly adorned head-dress would have been worn on the bride's veil, which covered her head and was further decorated with hanging ornaments, including a pair of long ceremonial earrings such as those accompanying the present crown.
