- enamel and gold with sheep bone for khole eyeliner stick
- 16.5cm.
the round body decorated in a multi-coloured enamel geometric pattern featuring an inscription to the centre to one side, on a short stand set with drop-shaped pink gemstones, the thin elongated neck containing a kohl stick with an enamelled handle and gold chain hooked to body for attaching
Condition
In good condition, some ware to enamel and surface consistent with age and use, pink stones on base are rubies, as viewed.

Catalogue Note
Widely applied in Ancient Egypt, Berber women in North Africa and the Middle East also applied kohl under their eyes. This beautiful gold and enamelled vessel would have contained the cosmetic, as well as been an admired addition to any dressing table.
