Description

  • teak, indian (non-endangered) rosewood, ebony, cow bone, ivory, brass
  • 135.5cm. high, 93cm. wide, 48.5cm. deep; 4ft. 5½in., 3ft. 1in., 1ft. 7in.
inlaid with bone in geometric designs, and with ivory handles, the upper section with ten drawers, the stand with three drawers, raised on Naga shaped supports, with a paper label on the reverse inscibed in manuscript MISS D LOWE, and a printed  label inscribed Capt  DRURY /LOWE/29 6 37

Condition

This is in overall good condition. There is an old chip to the ebony on the top right hand side and an old repair with some consequent losses to timber. There is a chip to the timber to the rear left hand side. The moulding on both sides on the bottom edge of the top section is missing. There are some losses to timber on both sides around this edge. Four handles are missing or incomplete. Two handles are missing form the base. Some reveneering to carcass around drawers and with some losses to timber adjacent to locks and other minor repairs consistent with age and use. The blind fret decoration is chipped and with losses immediately above the legs. Blocks beneath figural supports chipped.
