Description

  • A very small simulated agate necessaire with two-colour gold mounts, 18th Century and later
  • gold, enamel, agate, glass
  • 4.8 cm, 1 7/8 in high
rectangular with sloping lid, inlaid with banded orange panels, the wavy gold mounts also engraved and chased with flowery foliage, containing its complement of two dimpled glass scent bottles and a folding knife each with carnelian ornament, tweezers, spoon and bodkin

Condition

Generally good order, lacking lid lining. Top of bodkin is missing. The necessaire and contents appear to have been composed of elements of different dates.
