Description

  • Ink and pigments on silk

Condition

The thangka is painted on silk and mounted on a cardboard backing. There are some creases in the silk where it has not been stretched properly over the cardboard. There are numerous horizontal and vertical tears to the silk with associated areas of loss to the pigment, most notably several long horizontal and vertical tears across the figure and above the figure. There are some areas of restoration covering up creases and tears. The colours are of a lighter and more vibrant tone than the catalogue illustration suggests.
