la panse circulaire légèrement bombée sur un court pied aux angles arrondis, le col en forme de bulbe relié par la panse par des anses arrondies se terminant en tête de ruyi, la panse peinte en camaïeu de bleu d'un décor de rinceaux végétaux rayonnant autour d'un médaillon central symbolisant le yin et le yang, une frise géométrique le long des bords et autour du col

Condition

There is a 1.5 x 0.3 cm fritting flake to the surface glaze along the edge of one ruyi handle and two smaller areas of fritting along each edges of the other handle. There is a 3 mm iron spot under one handle and another minute spot below the other handle near the neck. There are some natural crackles in the glaze across the handles at the level of the ruyi terminals. There are a couple of body lines slightly stained to russet issuing from just above the foot and extending onto one side of the vase [To be further checked with UV].

Catalogue Note

Compare a Yongle prototype of this design and an unmarked Yongzheng version which varies slightly from the present piece, both in the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated in Ye Peilan, Appraising Ancient Chinese Ceramics, Taipei, 1993, pp. 74f. Another unmarked Qianlong example, but lacking its foot, was sold in our Hong Kong rooms, 27th April 1993, lot 161.
