Condition

Good condition overall. Wear consistent with age and use within the culture. Very beautiful old dark brown patina.

Catalogue Note

Le motif amasumpa sculpté en très haut relief sur le fût permet selon toute vraisemblance d'attribuer ce bâton de danse, de type Tsonga, à un artiste originaire du royaume Zulu. Voir Klopper (2007, p. 86, n° 30) pour un emblème également très élaboré et à l'iconographie comparable, désigné par l'auteur comme Zulu/Tsonga.
